Joining hosts Dennis McCuistion and Jim Falk is Cal Jillson, PhD, Professor of Political Science, Southern Methodist University and the author of American Government.
The conversation focuses on how and why the electoral college was put into place and whether it is still a valid process to use in determining our next president.
The history is ironic. In the constitutional convention of 1777, our founding fathers were concerned about how a President should be elected and whether the common man had the savvy to elect a president.

Join us to review how the college decides on our next president; most especially critical as we go into a new election with all its political outcomes.

Liked the electoral college detail program. Accurate that there is as founders designed, ability for smaller states to have input. At least have only the top 50% being sought and the smaller vote states understood to be ineffective and not a part of the major election.
Next subject, electoral college and other details make us as constitution a democratic republic to avoid the European starts the USA immigrants were avoiding. Kings, tyrants, fiefdoms, and even improper elections.
Why then does USA forget the republic portion when evangelizing the world to democracy. Democracy can be overrun by power, tyrants, money, resources in many ways, while holding the voice of the population can have all wanting everything the government can provide, at a cost now or later over and above the ability of the country structure to provide. Still we have lost some of that with deficit spending above an ability to recover, loss of the balance in party line votes, loss of some of the 3 branch checks and balances, but still the struggle is good. Without which we become susceptible to the whim of a leader or party.
