Steven E. Koonin, PhD, former Undersecretary for Science, U.S. Department of Energy (under the Obama Administration), founding Director of NYU’s Center for Urban Science and Progress, joins us to discuss what climate change tells us, what it doesn’t and why it matters.
Hosting with Jim Falk in his debut as a program co-host Is Jim Cathcart, renowned for his work in leadership and transforming business.
Dr. Koonin, author of the controversial Unsettled, challenges the “prevailing wisdom” of climate change, that sea levels are rising, and that climate change will be an economic disaster.
While he states that “the climate is changing, the why and how are not as clear as we have been led to believe.”

Hoping for better in 2022, I was saddened to see just another biased episode on climate change with climate denier (yes, he is) Steven Koonin. This episode was every bit as biased against climate change as the episodes in 2016 with Patrick Michael’s of Cato, propaganda clips by Marc Morano, and gibberish by cowgirl Hartnett-White. There is no disagreement on climate change, just facts and propaganda, and the issue is “settled.” In this episode you not only lobbed softballs over the plate for Koonin to swat over the fence, you didn’t even bring on your usual weak “straw man” to argue that climate change really is a problem. Dennis McQuistion may be gone, but sadly his viewpoint clearly lives on as this show is still just standard conservative drivel, like having Stephen Moore on the economy and John Fund on non-existent voter fraud. This show would be more appropriate on Fox or Sinclair Broadcasting, but not public television.
What perfect timing. This 01/09/2022 episode ran the day before the NYT 01/10/2022 article:
“2021 Was Earth’s Fifth-Hottest Year, Scientists Say”
The finding, by European researchers, fits a clear warming trend: The seven hottest years on record have been the past seven.
You can learn even more about this show’s guest, Dr. Steven E. Koonin, “who isn’t a climate change denier and even worked for the Obama administration,” at desmog.com.
And remember, when it comes to climate change, “don’t worry, be happy,” and “Don’t Look Up.”
Outstanding With Insight and perspective backed by data.
Now that in April 2022 Frontline is running a three part series on “The Power of Big Oil,” (Part One: Denial) maybe you could get climate change denier Koonin and that fossil fuel shill you had on back in the fall of 2016 back on McCuistion to rebut this Frontline series.
